Books, literature, references

Recently the question arose on the list  where to find a good manual which can teach during assembling and aligning a rig(let).

Having read the excellent instructions on Jason's Willamette ( mind the pronunciation, hi) I will name that first.

I would like to mention the manuals which come with all elecraft  kits.

Two other  books I strongly recommend are The Electronics of Radio by David B. Rutledge.
Even it is oriented on students of electronics  it offers so many chapters which can be used as kind of reference book. I myself do not understand all of the maths there, and reading such special text in a foreign language is not too easy for me. Anyway, it teaches. It is aimed at the Norcal40 rig. So it has a real practical base discussing different stages, explaining their function  etc.
The appendix offers some valuable data sheets
ISBN O- 521- 64645- 6

The second book has already often been mentioned on the list and also Stephen puts emphasis on
it.  Experimental Methods in RF Design by W7ZOI, KK7B, W7PUA.
Wow! More than 500 pages full of knowledge.
ISBN O- 87259- 879- 9

Nussbaum has written three volumes on HF-measuring matters  for the radio ham. They are full of information, practical hints, instructions on how to build own gadgets to measure with and how to use professional gear. Illustrations are excellent. Even if German is not your mother tongue it might be worth having a look at.
